The period between Christmas and New Year’s Eve is one of my favourite times of the year. If I’m fortunate enough to have some time away from work, it’s the perfect opportunity to be at home, catching up with friends, watching old films, reading, cooking and eating. Which is exactly what I’m doing today. And this wonderfully welcoming house exterior sums up that special time of year perfectly for me. Dusk is a great time to take a walk and surreptitiously peer into the homes of others, and this one, with its statement hurricane lamps and flickering candles couldn’t be more enticing. The question is, what kind of cosseting interior lies behind that grand, wreath-decked front door?
