• Goodbye, summer

Oh dear! September already. My lawn is speckled with fallen leaves and the nights are drawing in fast. Soon, sitting in the garden for hours on end, or eating lunch al fresco will be a distant dream. However, if you’re lucky enough to have a conservatory, this is when it will come into its own.

The conservatory of this Victorian house has large windows, which let in plenty of light, while letting you enjoy garden views, from the comfort of your sofa – so much softer than your average deckchair.

The conservatory is painted in shades of duck-egg, lavender and gardenia to complement the garden. The matching duck-egg wicker furniture has striped blue cushions for contrast, while the large coffee table provides the perfect place to put your feet up, or put your G&T.

The stylish, yet practical pale terracotta tiles, complete with underfloor heating, is a nice finishing touch.
