This delicate dining room in Paris made me think of another Parisian delicacy – the macaron. So sweet, so brightly coloured…and yet not too much. The small portion, and the simplicity is what creates good taste. So it is in this salle à manger.

    Going bananas

While I’m admittedly a fan of a more restrained décor scheme than this, I can’t deny this room made me smile, just as much as I did when I stepped out for a walk this lunchtime, and today’s gorgeous sunlight hit my face. So while I’m not about to dash home and fill the place with enough plants to seriously affect my house’s oxygen levels, today I’m going to appreciate this lush, luxurious looking room while the sun still shines.

What’s more important in a room – good taste or a sense of fun? If I had to choose between them, I’d go for the latter. Take this dining area, the wall on the left has the faux-stone-effect wallpaper, which was trendy in the 1960s. It has a curly-wurly wall shelf that

Bank Holiday project – style up a quirky corner

    by  • April 29, 2016 • Desirable dining • 0 Comments

Bank Holiday weekend! That magical time of year when, for some reason, we all decide to do house things, whether it be painting a room, finishing the tiling, or, in my case, trying to store a bulky chest of drawers I’m not yet ready to part with into a woefully small hall cupboard on the off-chance the cupboard has become a Tardis while I wasn’t paying attention.
